About the Role
The People Operations Manager role is a newly created, hands-on role focused on building quality people programs that scale with Lyra’s growing clinical population and managing a team of generalists. You will partner to support cross-functional teams to provide support across various functions, such as Engagement and Retention, Performance Management, People Programs and Initiatives, Policies, Procedures, and Processes. We are also looking for a thought partner and team player who loves collaborating on various projects with other members of the growing People Operations team. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience and a drive for rolling out well-thought-out and scalable initiatives in a mission-focused, hyper-growth start-up in the mental health space.


  • Implement strategic HR initiatives to contribute to support the client group’s program and organizational success
  • Develop and implement programmatic approaches to address key people issues, including employee engagement, performance management, change management, and DEIB
  • Lead the full cycle annual performance management for the client group
  • Provide guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and employees on employment best practices, people processes, and policies
  • Develop, define, and create baseline project plans to drive towards team goals and initiatives
  • Analyze people data and surveys to identify opportunities to improve retention and deliver metrics-driven results from people programs, and present findings in concise, accurate and visually compelling presentations
  • Deliver service excellence by utilizing HR knowledge to create and provide solutions to managers, and communicate opportunities for continuous process improvements
  • Create, and cultivate the overall employee experience, lead, and participate in culture initiatives that fosters a respectful and inclusive environment where every employee has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the organization’s success.


  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably HRM or related field 
  • 5+ years of relevant People Operations/HRBP or other relevant experience at a fast-paced, high growth startup, strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of direct management experience
  • Understanding of federal and state labor laws
  • Thoughtfulness, flexibility, and a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and balance priorities in a dynamic and constantly evolving work environment
  • Ability to innovate and creatively solve problems in a highly collaborative manner
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on excellence
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently, multitask, and drive towards aggressive deadlines
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in Google Apps and MS Office

This role will be a hybrid position, reporting into our office in Burlingame, CA.
