As the global mental health crisis continues and employers and governments alike come together to address it, technology-based approaches to workforce mental health are emerging at the forefront. To meet the ever-rising need for mental health support, employers are exploring solutions that include apps, wellness perks, and–most importantly–mental health benefits. But not all of these offerings have been tried and tested through rigorous, scientifically sound research.
Measuring outcomes through clinically-approved assessments is key to evidence-based mental health care. At Lyra Health, collecting and monitoring anonymous data on engagement and clinical outcomes throughout care is a crucial part of our program and product development. With that in mind, here are key findings from eight peer-reviewed studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of Lyra’s mental health care and support:
Employer medical costs for companies that partnered with Lyra were reduced by $2300 per engaged member per year.
Additionally, Lyra is the only Workforce Mental Health solution to publish data on financial ROI–including medical and prescription drug savings, employee productivity, and retention.
Among three companies that partnered with Lyra, employees receiving care through the benefit were twice as likely to stay with their organization than those getting mental health treatment through their health insurance.
89 percent of the 6000-plus study who were Lyra members saw reliable anxiety or depression symptom improvement or recovery, illustrating the results of Lyra’s Blended Care experience and care delivery model.
After watching a Lyra-produced cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) video, 88 percent of clients responded ‘‘Agree’’ or ‘‘Strongly agree’’ to the following questions:
73 percent of members who reported suicidal ideation nearly every day at the beginning of treatment reported none after receiving care with Lyra providers.
83 percent of members experienced clinically significant symptom improvement or recovery from anxiety or depression, demonstrating the power of evidence-based therapies in real-world environments.
Using the Lyra Medication Management program model, this study showed that about 68 percent of members experienced reduction or remission of mental health symptoms after 12 weeks, compared to similar clinical studies where just 35 to 46 percent of members saw comparable results.
A whopping 90 percent of clients in Lyra’s Blended Care Coaching Program who entered treatment with moderate anxiety and/or depression showed reliable improvement or recovery.
With the rising need for mental health care comes an equally urgent need for data-driven solutions. As organizations consider providing a mental health benefit for their employees, selecting a benefits program that is rooted in evidence-based care is crucial.
